چکیده

The use of transactions to provide reliable and secure information processing and data management has increasingly gained the attention of the CSCW community. Traditional transaction models have, however, been claimed to be too restrictive in the context of cooperation. Research on transaction support for cooperative work has therefore particularly aimed at finding mechanisms and frameworks to overcome this limitation. In this paper we survey the work done in the development of flexible and cooperative transaction models. This survey is divided into two categories. The first consists of approaches mainly based on the CSCW perspective, while the second category consists of database methods extended to support cooperation. The paper also provides an evaluation of the models with respect to relevant criteria and requirements for cooperative work set-

Active Cooperative Transaction Model for Shared Design Databases

This paper presents an active, cooperative transaction model for shared databases which supports the collaboration of users and user groups in product design. The described cooperative transaction model is a component of an active database system that potentially represents all information needed during the product development process. The rules of this active database system are used for autom...

Transaction Support for Cooperative Work: An Overview of the TRANSCOOP Project

Cooperative work on shared information requires different kinds of computing system support to coordinate the work of multiple users, to establish mutual awareness among users, and to ensure the consistency of user results. These issues are currently tackled separately in various loosely related areas, such as workflow systems, groupware, and advanced transactional models. In the TRANSCOOP proj...

Implementation of CovaTM

Nowadays it has been widely recognized that traditional transaction models with ACID (Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation and Durability) properties generally are not applicable to cooperative applications. To solve this problem, a new transaction model called CovaTM is proposed. CovaTM views one execution of a cooperative process as a transaction with its sub-transactions corresponding to activi...

Transaction Models Supporting Cooperative Work - The TransCoop Experiences

Cooperative work on shared information requires different kind of computing system support to coordinate the work of multiple users, to establish mutual awareness and to ensure consistency. We present a transactional model that provides a core func...

General form of a cooperative gradual maximal covering location problem

Cooperative and gradual covering are two new methods for developing covering location models. In this paper, a cooperative maximal covering location–allocation model is developed (CMCLAP). In addition, both cooperative and gradual covering concepts are applied to the maximal covering location simultaneously (CGMCLP). Then, we develop an integrated form of a cooperative gradual maximal covering ...
